It literally makes me bristle whenever I hear someone pronounce "Jaguar," as "jag-WIRE"
It's almost as bad as calling that French car a "Peg-GOTT"
Anyway, have a Peugeot with a Jaguar chaser:

As an American and a Jaguar owner, I am of the opinion that we should only ever refer to them out loud as 'Jag(s).' Jag-wahr sounds hickish, Jag-u-ehr sounds affected, and Jag-wire is a class A misdemeanor outside of a 50 mile radius around Jacksonville, FL.

I agree. Although to be fair, I've never heard an English speaker pronounce Peugeot exactly right. The Brits are really close, but not quite there yet.

I took six years of French so my pronunciation of Peugeot is as close to French as I can get it: "pyuh-zheoh" with the accent on the first part of the second syllable and then dropping off at the end of the word.

That's fine by me... although I prefer Clarkson's "JAAAAAAAAAAAG"
